Goods vehicle rams into pole, one killed

A 24-year-old youth was killed and three people were injured when their goods vehicle rammed into a roadside electricity pole at Chikkajala on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Gajendra, a resident of Yelahanka. The injured Nagendra from Vinayaka Nagar, Prakasha from Dandupalya and Manjunatha from Ulsoor have been admitted to a private hospital. The victims worked at Vinayaka tent house in Dwarakanagar.

The police said the victims had gone to Ajjagaranahalli to get back the materials they had rented out. Manjunatha, who was driving the vehicle, lost control and rammed into the pole, following which the vehicle turned turtle. Passersby rushed them to a nearby hospital where Gajendra succumbed because of excessive bleeding. The other three, including the driver of the van, are recovering at the hospital.

Biker killed

A 21-year-old biker was killed on the spot after he lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the railings on international airport road on Thursday.

The biker, identified as Thippanna, a resident of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, and was on his way from Devanahalli to Bengaluru. The accident occurred around 11.30 a.m. The police said though he was wearing a helmet, he had not strapped it.
