An 18-year-old student had a narrow escape after she reportedly accidentally fell from the first floor of her college building in Anekal on Tuesday.

Veena (18), a second year BA student and daughter of Venkatappa, a labourer and a resident of Surajkanahalli, was rushed to the nearby Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital where she is said to be out of danger. Veena, the only daughter of Venkatappa and a student of Cauvery College on Hosur Road, is a topper of her college.

Inquiries revealed that Veena has a hearing problem and had visited the hospital on Monday evening. Police suspect that Veena, who was unwell when she came to college on Tuesday morning, was walking towards her classroom when she suddenly fell. The incident came to light when the college staff saw Veena lying on the floor and immediately rushed her to hospital.

The police was informed and they immediately rushed to the hospital. However, it is yet to be ascertained as to how and from which floor she fell, said a senior police officer.

“There are no fractures or any external injuries on her. She is absolutely fine and out of danger. Doctors at Narayana Hrudayalaya are keeping her under observation. Also, there is no complaint registered in this connection. Even, the hospital has not initiated any medico-legal case so far,” said B. Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural.
