It is among the projects that will be showcased at the Global Investors’ Meet in February

It is not just the big ticket projects which will be showcased at the proposed Global Investors’ Meet of Invest Karnataka to be held from February 3 to 5. If the Infrastructure Department has its way, construction and maintenance of public toilets in 250 locations in Bengaluru will be among the projects on offer.

Investors would be given commercial advertisement display rights on these complexes to recover costs, its proposal says.

One of proposals is for construction of 40 skywalks with lifts, backed by generator sets. The BBBMP has identified 40 busy roads and junctions for the proposed skywalks, which will have CCTV cameras.

Another proposal is the redevelopment of 11 old markets in Bengaluru by dismantling the existing structures. These include Johnson Market on Hosur-Luskar Road, Austin Town Market, Moore Market near Shivajinagar, Cubbonpet Market, Chikkamavalli Market, Murphy Town market, Akkipet Market and Mutton Market at SKR market complex.

The State may soon see the entry of private players in infrastructure in agriculture, energy, health and transportation as the Infrastructure Department is getting ready to propose projects in these areas under the public-private-partnership model at GIM. Infrastructure Development Minister R. Roshan Baig told reporters in Bengaluru on Monday that a book containing the proposed projects will be ready in a couple of days.
