Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George has directed Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to complete dredging and repair of the storm-water drain in Shinivagalu Tank (S.T.) Bed Layout, Koramangala, within 20 days. The Minister visited rain-affected parts of the city on Saturday and pulled up officials for the slow pace of work which had led to flooding.
Along with Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Mayor G. Padmavathi and BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad, he visited the S.T. Bed area in Koramangala and reviewed the progress on repairs of the storm-water drain that breached after heavy rain on the night of August 14. When residents met the Minister and sought compensation for the damage caused by the rain, he asked the Mayor and the Commissioner to consider their request.
Members of the Koramangala 4th Block RWA, however, said they came to know of the Minister’s visit only later and were unhappy that they did not get a chance to air their grievances.
Mr. George also visited Kumbargundi area on J.C. Road, Shantinagar Bus Depot, Anepalya, and Yediyur, areas which bore the maximum brunt of the rain.
