Conciliatory attempts are being made to end the discord between three women councillors and Rajarajeshwarinagar MLA Munirathna Naidu.
On Tuesday, Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George met the three councillors — Manjula Narayanaswamy, Asha Suresh and Mamatha Vasudev — in the presence of Mayor K. Padmavathi, Deputy Mayor Anand and Ruling Party Leader Mohammed Rizwan.
Sources said the women councillors alleged harassment by the MLA and his supporters. They alleged that they were being obstructed from carrying out development works in their respective wards. They demanded that the cases filed against them by the MLA be withdrawn.
Sources said that Mr. George promised to apprise Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about their grievances.
Sources said the issue of bringing in necessary amendments in the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976, to ensure proper protocol during BBMP programmes was also discussed.
Later, Ms. Padmavathi told reporters that attempts would be made to resolve the differences between the women councillors and the MLA before this month's council meeting.
