The Yelahanka New Town police detained a gang of eight persons on Monday outside the farmhouse of singer Lucky Ali.

Based on a complaint filed by Mr. Ali, police picked up Rowdy Mahesh and his associates, who are now being questioned.

According to the police, Mr. Ali had a dispute with his relatives over a farmhouse near Yelahanka. A civil case has been pending in this regard and Mr. Ali allegedly received threats related to this. He had earlier approached police seeking protection.

The police on Sunday said a security guard of the farmhouse noticed a group of people behaving suspiciously and informed the police. Authorities arrived on the scene and questioned them. They found that the eight men were armed with lethal weapons.

One of the men claimed that he was hired by a man known as Asif Ali to eliminate Lucky Ali. The police are investigating the claim.
