Gang of 16 arrested for trying to sell a two-headed snake

The Yelahanka police have arrested a gang of 16 persons who were allegedly trying to sell a two-headed snake to a beautician for Rs. 2 crore.

The gang was busted when the beautician suspected something fishy and alerted the police, who rescued the snake and handed it over to the Forest Department’s Wildlife division.

The names of the arrested were given as Mathaiah (36) from Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu, Venkatesh (36) from Gauribidanur, Chandru Prabhuswamy (33) from Ittamadu, Sagar (49) from Chamarajpet, Narayanswamy (58) from Cantonment, Veerupaksh (49) from Sanjaynagar, Samuel (25) from Koramangala, Sharath (23) from HRBR Layout, Krishna (54) from Maddur, Suresh (43) from Jalahalli, Raghavendra (32) from J.P. Nagar, Ubras (30) from R.T. Nagar, Abrar Khan (21) from HRBR Layout, Prashanth (34) from Kodihalli, Mohammad Hassan (46) from Kollegal and Santosh (29) from J.P. Nagar.

According to the police, the accused, who operated in a network, managed to catch the two-headed snake at Gauribidanur and decided to sell it for higher price in the city. In a bid to execute their plan, Mr. Prabhuswamy contacted the Yelahanka-based beautician, who had suffered loss in real estate. He approached the beautician and tried to convince her that possession of two-headed snake would bring her good luck.

On the pretext of seeing the snake, the beautician went to the lodge where the accused were staying. After she saw the snake, she alerted the police.

After being tipped off, the police arrested the accused. A case has been registered in Yelahanka police station and probe is underway.
