A gang of more than 10 men armed with lethal weapons barged into a resort on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night, assaulted men and made away with some valuables.

The incident occurred at Meenakshi Meadows, a resort on Hulimangala Road in Jigani, established by a realtor from Haryana less than a year ago.

Police sources said that at about 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday, a gang of more than 10 armed men barged into the premises of the resort in two cars and some motorcycles.

The manager of the resort, in his complaint to the police, stated that the armed gang damaged his cabin, targeted some of the customers who were having dinner, threatened them with dire consequences, snatched away three mobile phones from them, and damaged two cars parked on the premises.

The gang also assaulted some of the employees of the resort before fleeing from the scene.

B. Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, Bangalore Rural District, told The Hindu that prima facie the incident doesn’t seem to be an incident of dacoity. It might have roots in a personal dispute between the owner of the resort and another person, reportedly his business partner.

Jigani police registered a case.

An official said there were two CCTV cameras on the premises, but the footage were blurred and were not helpful in identifying the attackers.
