Contrary to city police claim that New Year eve went off peacefully, CCTV footage of a biker and his female friend attacked and beaten up by a gang of men at Motappanapalya in Indira Nagar has gone viral.

Based on the video footage, police have now registered a suo motu complaint and arrested two men – Ambareesh alias Khaki and Lokesh alias Gudde.

The footage shows the men dancing in the middle of the street and then confronting the biker who was passing-by, accusing him of touching one of them.

The pillion rider, a girl from the North-East, apologised repeatedly to them but they kicked and punched the rider. The biker began to flee but the gang chased him and beat him up before he ran to safety leaving the vehicle behind.

Earlier the gang harassed passers-by and passed lewd comments on women.

The Indira Nagar police said that there was no complaint and based on the footage they have arrested Ambarish and Lokesh, who led the attack. “We are also probing to ascertain the involvement of others and trying to find out the whereabouts of the bike,” a senior police officer said .

Threatened

In another incident, an unidentified man barged into the BMRCL quarters in Byappanahalli and threatened the women staff at knife point and misbehaved with them. He took away undergarments and Rs. 150 from a woman loco pilot despite security guards being on duty.
