A seven-month pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Anjana Nagar near Byadarahalli on the outskirts of the city late on Monday night.
The victim had picked up a fight with her husband for not buying her clothes for the New Year. The quarrel took a turn for the worse and ended in the murder of the wife, the police said.
The Tavarekere police, who are investigating the case, identified the victim as Pavithra (21), a native of Angara Halli near Huliyuru Durga in Tumkur district. The accused himself brought the matter to the notice of the police within minutes of the murder.
The policemen, attached to Byadarahalli police outpost and Tavarekere stations, rushed to the spot and recovered the body. They also arrested the accused, identified as K. Kumar (27).
The accused had purchased new clothes for himself for the New Year. The victim had demanded a sari and a dress material for her. However, he did not buy any dress for her. Pavithra picked up a fight with him on Monday night.
During the quarrel, the accused, in a fit of rage, allegedly slapped Pavithra. The victim, who was seven months pregnant, fell down and died.
