The district unit of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has alleged that farmers in the district have been supplied substandard seeds of red gram by the Karnataka State Seeds Corporation (KSSC), causing loss to the farmers.

The farmers are being forced to purchase quality seeds by private companies due to the ‘irresponsibility’ of officials of the Agriculture Department which supplied the seeds, the outfit said in a memorandum submitted to the district administration on Wednesday. “The officials are hand in glove with the private operators”, KRRS State vice-president Narayana Gowda said.

The outfit urged the government to take action against the officials of KSSC and Agriculture Department responsible for supplying inferior seeds.
