Engineering college fees up by 10 per cent

The fees of private engineering colleges for 2016-2017 have gone up by 10 per cent.

Higher Education Minister T.B. Jayachandra told The Hindu that the fee hike was for both government quota as well as COMEDK-quota seats. He said that a consensual agreement on this was signed between the colleges and the government on Thursday. The previous academic year too, the fees had been hiked by 10 to 15 per cent. Although the State government had initially refused to relent to the fee hike demand of the colleges, it finally relented when they refused to sign the consensual agreement without the hike.
