Two men allegedly cheated a Hassan-based businessman of Rs. 2.4 lakh on Wednesday.

According to a complaint filed with the Byatarayanapura police, Kumar, a dealer in acacia saplings, was invited to Bangalore by Shivaraju who promised to procure saplings.

Shivaraju then introduced Mr. Kumar to Suresh, and the three went to a place on Bannerghatta Road which Suresh claimed was his.

On Wednesday, Mr. Kumar paid Rs. 2 lakh to Suresh and Rs. 40,000 to Shivaraju in a hotel.

The duo promised him that they would drop him to the bus stand and left the hotel.

They remained accessible later.

Fatal quarrel

Quarrel over sharing of wages cost a 55-year-old worker his life on S.R. Road in City Market police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police said that Shivalingam, a resident of Lakshmanrao Slum in Koramangala, and his colleague Sheikh Afzar had to share the day's wages.

Differences rose between them and Afzar allegedly stabbed Shivalingam, who died on the spot.
