Domestic help arrested on charge of theft

The Rajarajeshwari nagar police have arrested a 36-year-old domestic help for stealing gold valuables worth Rs. 2.2 lakh from her employers house last week.

The accused Gouramma had joined work 20 days ago under the employ of Atul Gupta, a city-based advocate.

On November 15, the couple had attended a marriage and returned home before keeping the valuables in the wardrobe.

Gouramma allegedly took the valuables on November 18. The couple noticed the valuables went missing recently and inquired with Gouramma, who feigned ignorance.

Mr. Gupta filed a complaint with the police. The police picked up Gouramma who confessed to the crime and returned the valuables.

Gouramma's husband was an autorickshaw driver and her son is studying engineering. Gouramma confessed that the family had financial difficulties and she stole the valuables to clear debts.
