The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) raided the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) head office in connection with the DLF case on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, the BMTF, which has already arrested Tirakana Goudar, a senior official from the BDA’s Town Planning department, seized documents pertaining to the case. It is said that two or three officials, including Joint Director of Town Planning Department, are still absconding.
Sources said that during the course of investigation, they had found that some town planning officials had colluded with the builder and forged, fabricated documents. “It is imperative that the BMTF arrests the other accused officials soon, as there is likelihood that they may destroy the evidence,” a source told The Hindu.
Sources added that the accused, once arrested, will be charged with issuing false certificates, cheating the Government, criminal conspiracy and acting contrary to the law. The case pertains to the proposal to widen the Begur-Hulimavu Road from the existing 40 feet to 80 feet. Though the Revised Master Plan 2015 allows widening up to only 60 feet, the Town Planning officials, at the behest of local MLA and Minister of Health Aravind Limbavali, had increased it to 80 ft so as to facilitate the builder to legalise the increase in floor area ratio.
