A debt ridden farmer reportedly committed suicide by jumping in to a well at Yadahalli in Kolar taluk under Rural police limits. The police gave the name of the farmer as Narayanappa (40).

He allegedly jumped in to the well in the Wednesday night. However, the incident came to light on Thursday morning, Rural Circle Inspector of Police Putta Obalappa said. Narayanappa had taken a ₹15 lakh loan from Pragathi Krishna Grameena Bank for agricultural activities.

The bank had sent recovery notice to him recently. Unable to repay the amount, he allegedly decided to end his life, the police said.
