Deadline set for amending zoning norms

November 29, 2014 12:51 pm | Updated 12:51 pm IST - Bengaluru

The Karnataka High Court on Friday set December 15 as the deadline for the State government to amend zoning regulations of the Revised Master Plan-2015 on use of residential properties and mutation corridors. It warned the government that it would initiate contempt of court proceedings if it failed to adhere to the deadline.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice B.V. Nagarathna issued the direction after noticing that the government had not completed the process of amending the regulations despite many opportunities given since February.

The amendment would allow only identified ancillary use of residential properties, instead of allowing their conversion for commercial use if the width of road abutting the residential property is 40 ft or more.
