The State government is likely to declare Kacharakanahalli lake to have lost all characteristics of a lake and use the 53 acre land to provide amenities like a playground, parks and a college.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on his sixth city rounds in recent times, visited the area on Sunday.
Temples
“There are two temples that have come up on the lake area. The rest of the 53 acres was allotted in 1986 to a modern abattoir, but that was dropped due to protests from locals. The State cabinet will take a call on the land and develop it,” he said. He visited one of the temples as well.
Earlier in the day, he toured extensively in Home Minister K.J. George’s Sarvagna Nagar constituency. Visiting the Kammanahalli KHB Colony, where 750 houses have neither power or water supply, the Chief Minister ordered works to be taken up immediately to provide for electricity, piped water and underground drainage.
Siddaramaiah visited a 106-year-old heritage health dispensary on M.M. Road, Fraser Town, which he promised would be restored without disturbing the heritage structure.
