Imagine cycling on a frozen, 38-km stretch on the Pangong Lake in Ladakh. That is just one of the exotic scenes one will get to see once the adventures of a four-member team from the city are released as a documentary.

Sharath Vishnu, a B.Com. graduate; Rajesh P. Nayak, a freelance interior designer; Prashanth Nayaka, a professional filmmaker; and Chandrashekhar, Mr. Nayaka’s assistant, will first release a trailer of their winter Himalayan cycling expedition ‘The frozen highway’ at the Alliance Française de Bengaluru on Wednesday. This will be followed by the release of the full documentary online.

Flying into Ladakh from Bengaluru on January 20, they gave themselves some time to get acclimatised to the harsh temperature for a while. The expedition began formally on February 1.

“We cycled 550 km in 36 days. Ladakh in winter is not documented at all. A handful of photographers has been there, but it has never been filmed. ‘Frozen highway’ is a crowd-funded project and we will screen it on Wednesday for people who supported us. The images captured are mainly of us [Sharath and Rajesh] cycling. It shows how different Ladakh is during winter and how the lifestyle of the people living there changes,” Mr. Vishnu said.

But there is another purpose of the 45-minute documentary. “Cutting edge adventure is mainly done by foreigners in the Himalayas. Also, there are no documented adventures. We wanted to change that,” he said.
