Cricket tournament for mechanics

The Hindu and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) are jointly hosting a tennis ball cricket tournament — SERVO Mechanic Cup Powered by The Hindu — for the first time on January 20 and 21 for the mechanics of Bengaluru. Twelve teams will participate in the event with players selected from more than 300 entries.

Organisers said that this is the first time that a cricket tournament for mechanics is being held in Bengaluru.

On the first day, the tournament will start at 7 a.m. for the preliminary / knock out rounds. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will held on the second day followed by a prize distribution ceremony and dinner.

The initial rounds will see matches of five overs for each side while the final will have 10 overs. Prizes worth over ₹1 lakh will be presented to winners by the senior management of IOCL.
