A couple sleeping outside the house were killed on the spot when a speeding canter ran over them in Rajanukunte in the outskirts of the city on Sunday.
The deceased Ramakrishna, (50) and his wife Ratnamma, (45) were construction labourer living in Basavalingappsa colony. The couple had adopted a girl who was sleeping inside, while they slept outside due to the hot summer.
According to the police, the driver of the goods vehicle was trying to reverse the vehicle and did not notice the two. When neighbours, who heard the commotion, came out of the house, they saw the driver speeding away.
The Rajanukunte police have taken up a case.
