Construction worker killed in wall collpase

A construction worker died when a portion of a building that was being demolished collapsed in Madiwala on Saturday.

Mani (30) was demolishing an old four-storey building since the beginning of this week. On Saturday, he was at work on the third floor when a wall collapsed on him. He was rushed to a private hospital but was declared brought dead. The Madiwala police registered a case against the building owner and the contractor.

Arrest

The Byatarayanapura police have arrested Siddaraju (24), a habitual offender, on the charge of vehicle theft and seized 40 two-wheelers, worth about Rs. 10 lakh, from him.

Siddaraju, a resident of Byatarayanapura, has 15 cases booked against him in different police stations in the city. Interrogation revealed that was arrested in 2011 and 25 vehicles were seized from him.

Siddaraju, who was released from prison recently, had taken to stealing again, the police said. He used to sell the stolen vehicles in Ramanagaram district, according to the police.
