A police constable who was caught on the camera while smoking in uniform is in the dock.

The Vidhana Soudha police, based on a Twitter complaint on July 20, traced B.M. Suresh, a police constable attached to Kadugodi police station.

Suresh was deputed for security at Vidhana Soudha during the session. A person, identified as Ganesh, caught him on camera while smoking in uniform and posted the picture on Twitter and notified the City Police Commissioner.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi directed the jurisdictional police to track down the constable. A team of police, comprising of head constable Choodamani and Police Constable Anand Prakash, checked all the police constables who are on duty from 20 July, with the Twitter photograph and zeroed in on Suresh and filed a detailed report.

A report has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) for further action, a senior police officer said.
