Congress seeks probe by SC judge

The State unit of the Congress on Sunday demanded a probe by a Supreme Court judge into the episode of a DVD containing purported conversation between BJP leaders B.S. Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar on the allegations of payments to party high command.

The demand comes close on the heels of the Forensic Sciences Lab (FSL) confirming the genuineness of voice samples. “We don’t trust the CBI. The entire DVD issue should be probed by a Supreme Court judge to reveal the truth of alleged payment of money by the State BJP leaders to the party command,” Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa said.

The BJP had no moral right to speak against corruption and the Modi government had not yet appointed the Lokpal, he said.

Meanwhile, sources close to Mr. Yeddyurappa said the BJP and the two leaders had not got any communication on the findings of FSL or any investigation authority. The party would decide its stand and the next course of action after clarity emerges.
