CJ: who will join judiciary if judges don’t get justice?

April 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Bengaluru:

If justices don’t get justice, who will join the judiciary? This all-important question was posed by Chief Justice D.H. Waghela of the Karnataka High Court on Monday.

“It is an issue for all to ponder; we need to introspect,” he said, reacting to the Karnataka State Bar Council Chairman P.P. Hegde’s remark that the Bar could did not get an opportunity to give a farewell to Justice Manjunath, while pointing out that the judge could not get “natural justice”.

“It was the darkest day and the most embarrassing moment for me when a glossy magazine was circulated…its contents were not only below contempt but sheer disinformation, character assassination of a judge, and an institution suffered credibility…” said Chief Justice Waghela. He added that his heart goes out to Justice Manjunath’s family members, who have suffered in silence.
