Bangalore City is likely to get a new Police Commissioner with the Election Commission reportedly recommending the transfer of B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha said the Election Commission of India would take decisions on administrative matters, including Mr. Mirji’s transfer and new postings of senior officers.

He refused to comment on an extension to Chief Secretary S.V. Ranganath, who is due to retire on April 30. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) would deal with such issues, he said.

Referring to UPA government’s initiative on Direct Cash Transfer of various subsidised schemes, including social security pensions in three districts on a pilot basis, he said that “the programme is on for the last one year and any attempt to implement new initiatives at this juncture will be looked into and take suitable decisions.”
