Demanding regular and adequate supply of water, residents from various wards in Mahalakshmi Layout on Thursday staged a protest in front of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board's (BWSSB) head office here on Thursday.
Holding empty pots and placards that had slogans condemning the Government and the BWSSB, the protesters, led by Congress MLA N.L. Narendra Babu, who represents Mahalakshmi Layout, demanded that BWSSB Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu submit his resignation.
Minister draws ire
“The Minister knew the problem would worsen in summer. Why did he not make an alternative arrangement? My constituency is suffering for the last six months and repeated complaints are of no use. We demand his resignation,” Mr. Babu said.
Pointing out that areas fed by Thippagondanahalli (TG) reservoir were the most affected as the low level had forced the BWSSB to draw only 22 mld from this source, Mr. Babu said: “If this source is drying up, they should make other arrangements.”
Most residents complained that they had to pay water bills although there was no supply.
