Citizens divided

Several citizens and residents welfare organisations demanded bringing in the Mayor-in-Council system, while opinion was divided over the restructuring of BBMP.

At a meeting with the three-member BBMP Restructuring Committee here on Wednesday, citizens voiced apprehensions over the bifurcation or trifurcation of the civic body. While some favoured trifurcation, a few wanted the 800 sqkm civic body to be split into four smaller corporations. Urban expert V. Ravi chander, member of the committee, said that the committee had met with over 600 people till date.
