The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) report into the mysterious death of a 14-year-old girl points to the problems the girl faced while moving from a Kannada medium to English medium school this year, as a possible reason for her to take the extreme step of ending her life.
The report relies on a letter, forensically proved to be written by her, and statements of her friends and others to ratify the claims made in the note.
The CID report stated that there is no evidence to indicate to abduction or that she was in a relationship with a boy. Based on evidence collected so far, police believe that the girl went to Anandagiri, where she was found by two women, on her own. There are also “clear indications” in the report that the girl may have consumed poison at Anandagiri.
While the parents and the two women who found the girl told the police that the 14-year-old had alleged “that she was forced to drink an unknown substance from her water bottle by a boy”, the CID report states that there is no supporting evidence. The CID suspects that the girl committed “suicide”.
The final report of the CID will look into the violent protests that erupted after the girl's death.
