Nearly 20 days after the II PU chemistry paper leaked for the first time, students and parents are keeping their fingers crossed over the conduct of the re-examination on Tuesday.

For the 1.74 lakh students, who have been studying the subject repeatedly following cancellation of the exam twice, it will be an anxious Tuesday when they enter the exam hall in the morning.

Most students said that it was demoralising for them to revise their chemistry portions for the third time in a row. They said they had lost seriousness about this exam. Parents and grandparents of students have stayed glued to the television sets to track developments pertaining to the PU examination, many students told The Hindu .

Smruthi L., a II PU student, said, “It is very boring to study the same subject over and over again. It does not feel like board exam.”

The II PU exam, as per the original calendar of events, was scheduled to get over on March 28. With the exam getting over on April 12, the study schedule of many has been affected and students will get only around 20 days to prepare for competitive entrance exams such as Common Entrance Test and COMED-K.

G. Sai Vybhav, another student at Janaseva Vidyakendra, said, “I am worried about the difficulty level of the paper. I hope it will be easy as I had done well for the March 21 chemistry exam. I hope that the paper on Tuesday will put an end to our stress.”

The Department of Pre-University Education, which has carried out a series of precautionary measures for the re-exam, has printed multiple question papers and dispatched them to the district treasuries. The Deputy Commissioners of the districts will get a message on Tuesday morning about which question paper needs to be dispatched to the exam centres.

Meanwhile, the treasuries as well as the strong room in Bengaluru and Dharwad have turned into a fortress with heavy deployment of police personnel.
