With no word yet from the Medical Council of India (MCI) on the status of medical seats in five government medical colleges for 2013-14, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that real option entry will be delayed.
A post by the KEA on a social networking site said: “The real option entry is delayed since the KEA is yet to receive the finalised list of colleges/courses for CET-2013 from the Medical Council of India and the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Real option entry will commence immediately after receiving the final list of colleges/courses. The dummy option entry site is opened now for the candidates to complete their registration and get trained on the online option entry process.”
Clueless
KEA officials told The Hindu they had no idea about when the counselling for allotment of seats would begin. The real option entry online, which is the first step towards counselling, should have started on June 25. “We are waiting for a direction from the MCI. After that we will require a day to set up the process and commence real allotment.”
Postponed
The State government has postponed the announcement of seat matrix for admissions to government and private medical colleges in the State from June 15 to June 19. It has also given an undertaking to the MCI to fulfil all the conditions imposed by the MCI within a timeframe and requested the council to reverse its decision to stop admissions to 400 MBBS seats in Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Karnataka Institute of Medical Science, Hubli; Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences, and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences.
