The Bangalore Queer Film Festival has started accepting submissions for its event slated for February next year. It is inviting short and full length feature films, short and long documentaries, animation and experimental films for BQFF 2013.
Films related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Intersex (LGBT or Queer) communities are invited for the event to be held at the Alliance Francaise in Bangalore.
BQFF 2012 hosted Indonesian films curated by John Badalu, director of the Q! Film Festival (Jakarta), including the transgender superhero story of Madame X; quirky Australian films curated by filmmaker Anna Helme; the super hit queer Tamil horror Kanchana; a retrospective of the moving films of Lebanese artist and filmmaker Akram Zataari; a package curated by Shai Heredia, director of Experimenta (Bangalore); a collection of ground-breaking and diverse films from India and South Asia. Some of these films went on to festivals at Sweden and Jakarta as part of a BQFF package.
BQFF 2013 is organised by non funded groups that operate entirely on donations such as Good As You (GAY), SWABHAVA Trust, We’re Here and Queer (WHAQ!) and Pirat Dykes. BQFF 2012 was organised largely with the support of donations from the LGBT community.
The last date for entries for BQFF 2013 is December 31 2012.
