CCB bust two fake job consultancy cases, arrest two

The Fraud and Misappropriation wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Saturday busted a fake job consultancy firm and arrested two persons for selling fake experience certificates to unemployed people.

The accused have been identified as Harish Kumar (57), a Diploma holder and owner of ‘Global Education Consultancy’ in HSR layout and Srinath (40), who claims to be pursuing MBA as well as running ‘Be Practical’ and ‘We are for you’ firms on Dr. Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar.

According to the police, the accused have been operating the firm from a rented building for the past four years. The accused lured unemployed people and offered fake job experience certificates, salary certificates and relieving letters stating that they worked in their company. The accused also maintained a database and responded to the background check calls from various companies where the candidates would be employed.

Such deals would be fixed at an amount of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 per candidate who would also be offered arrangement of interviews from various companies.

Explaining the Modus Operandi , Inspector Anand Kabburi said that the accused even hired a few people and organised fake interviews. The fake employers were to eventually reject the candidates. The accused uploaded the resumes of the gullible candidates on various job portals and if any candidate was lucky enough to get selected, the accused would demand Rs. 50,000 or two months salary.

Based on a tip-off, a team of officials raided the firms and arrested the accused. The CCB officials are investigating further to ascertain how far the network of the accused are spread.
