Sprint king Usain Bolt will be in Bangalore on Tuesday, becoming arguably the most high-profile athlete in recent years to visit the city. The Jamaican is expected to arrive in the early hours from China and leave the same day.

Bolt, a multiple Olympic gold medallist and the 100m world-record holder, will take part in a cricket match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at 4 p.m. as part of promotional activity for a footwear company. A seven-member team led by Bolt will clash with a side led by cricketer Yuvraj Singh in a four-over contest. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will feature in Bolt’s team. The Jamaican is a keen follower of cricket, and famously played in a charity match with his friend and compatriot Chris Gayle.

The demand for passes to the event, made available at three stores in the city, has been heavy. One outlet said its quota of 1,800 passes was exhausted in two days.

Those without tickets too may enter the stadium through gates 7 and 8 from 2.45 p.m., but will not have access to the best seats.
