Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is introducing and adding new types of passes to the existing categories to suit different types of commuter base in June.

While offering an array of passes for commuters to choose from to increase flexibility of travel, it has decided to simplify matters by doing away with acquiring a BMTC ID.

Commuters may now buy a pass on board a Vajra by validating it with any ID, including driver's licence, voter's ID, passport or employee ID issued by any public authority.

The new “Friendly Pass” is priced at Rs. 1,300 a month, instead of Rs. 1,250. Those who have a BMTC ID, can buy the pass at Rs. 1,250 a month. The Vajra monthly passes will be valid for travel on all services except Vayu Vajras and Bangalore Rounds.

The second type of pass is the Vajra Student Pass for full-time students to be sold at a promotional rate of Rs. 900 a month. This can also be obtained on board Vajra buses. A student ID is enough to validate this pass which will be valid for travel on all services except Vayu Vajra and Bangalore Rounds.

The third pass is the A/C Suvarna Day Pass, priced at Rs. 50 per day, valid for all services except Vajra, Vayu Vajra and Bangalore Rounds.

The Vayu Vajra Gold monthly pass, valid for all services, is Rs. 2,550 a month, while the Vajra Gold Day Pass, valid for tall services except Vayu Vajra, is priced at Rs. 80.
