The talks between BMRCL Employees’ Union and Namma Metro authorities are set to begin on March 26.
The High Court’s orders to hold meetings may indeed see a resolution of the issues that had not made any breakthrough in two previous meetings, said Suryanarayana Murthy, vice-president of the union. Their demands include recognition to the union, ending wage disparity, and framing standing orders. “With the court having mandated the meeting, there will be some seriousness from BMRCL. In case no resolution is found, their arguments in each of the meetings will be presented to the court for scrutiny,” he said.
Mahendra Jain, Managing Director of BMRCL, said they were “always agreeable” to talks with employees. “We’ll explain to them that there are limitations to how much we can do with the wage revision. But, we will meet any reasonable demand put forth,” he said.
