BJP stages a walkout

July 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - BENGALURU:

The Opposition BJP members staged a walkout in the Assembly on Tuesday. They were protesting against the government for not heeding to their demand of extending the tenure of a committee, led by retired bureaucrat H. Shashidhar, which looked into the alleged scam in the Bangalore Development Authority.

The BJP members commenced their dharna on Monday, demanding concrete action against the scam of illegally providing costlier alternative sites to land losers.

Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar said it had not been possible for the committee to lay its hands on all relevant documents. However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a stern stand of not continuing the committee, by pointing out that Mr. Shashidhar had already been appointed as member of the Finance Committee.
