BJP opposes move to celebrate Tipu Jayanti

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday took exception to the move by the Congress government to celebrate the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan.

Accusing Tipu of being a fundamentalist, BJP State president Pralhad Joshi told a press conference here that the party would oppose any plans to celebrate his birth anniversary.

Instead, he demanded that the government should celebrate the birth anniversary of saint-poet Shishunal Sharief.
