The woes of his political boss turned out to be lucky for Jagadish Kumar, who worked as the special officer for the former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, who is facing serious corruption charges.
As the Bharatiya Janata Party decided to keep out Mr. Naidu from Assembly poll contest in the wake of the stand taken by it against giving ticket to three of its tainted MLAs, Mr. Kumar has been chosen to contest from Hebbal, which is presently represented by Mr. Naidu.
His name was announced in the fourth and final list announced by the party comprising 12 candidates just on the eve of the deadline for filing nominations.
Mr. Naidu is believed to have insisted on giving ticket to his aide Mr. Kumar, who has also worked as Bangalore Stock Exchange president earlier.
Similarly, the party has given ticket to Ramakka, mother of its “tainted” MLA Y. Sampangi, to contest from KGF, while party worker Venkatesh Gowda has been chosen to contest from Malur, instead of sitting MLA Krishnaiah Setty, who is facing charges of indulging in a land scam. Mr. Gowda is said to be a close aide of Mr. Setty.
With this, the party has desisted from giving ticket to all its three tainted MLAs.
Meanwhile, Minister and senior leader Govind Karjol has been given ticket to contest from Mudhol.
With the releasing of the fourth list, the party has announced candidates for all the 224 Assembly constituencies.
