The Mico Layout police arrested five men for allegedly murdering a 24-year-old man and buried his body under debris piled up on a vacant site in J.P. Nagar last week.
The murder came to light only on Monday when the police tracked the victim’s call details and questioned the person who was last seen with him.
Tilak Kumar, a resident of Bilakahalli, was missing from June 24. After searching for four days, his family contacted the police who went through his call records.
They then questioned Bharath, who was last to meet him.
The police then arrested George and four of his associates who not only confessed to the murder but also helped exhume the body from under the debris.
Police said Tilak used to humiliate and fight with George who was involved with Tilak’s ex-girlfriend. This led George to rope in a local goon to bump him off.
Accordingly, the gang invited reconciliation, plied him with drinks and George allegedly stabbed and battered Tilak to death.
George and four others — Balraj, Sampath, Balu and Nagraj — were booked for murder charges and remanded in judicial custody.
