In a twisted take on morality, a bike-borne robber duo threatened a couple at knifepoint and robbed them of all jewels, but soon returned the mangalsutra of the woman. But they did not think twice before robbing another man down the road in less than ten minutes. A third victim grew suspicious as they approached asking him for the time as he was coming out of an ATM kiosk and ran to safety.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday in Rajgopalnagar near the Brindavan bus stop. The couple, Maribettegowda and Leelavathi, residents of Rajgopalnagar, were waiting at the bus stop at around 4:45 a.m. as they were travelling to Nagamangala to visit a temple, when the duo approached them in the guise of asking for directions. However, the pillion rider soon flashed a dagger and threatened the couple to give up all jewels.

After the woman gave up all her jewels, the bike rider raised objections with his associate about robbing the woman of the mangalasutra – a 30 gram gold chain, after which the pillion rider returned it to her. The couple lost a necklace, a gold chain, a ring and a bracelet of around 44 grams of gold. The bikers then went up to another man on the other end of the street and robbed him of a 15 gram gold chain after threatened him at knifepoint. The man, Krishnamurthy, a resident of Laggere, was walking to the bus stop to catch a bus to visit a relative.

The duo then sighted a man coming out of an ATM kiosk, sped up to him in the guise of asking for the time. However, Rajesh grew suspicious of the duo and ran away. The victims have lodged a complaint with the Rajgopalnagar police.

A senior police official said that the duo were speaking in Kannada and were youths in their early twenties. They had not even covered their faces and the police were trying to get a sketch based on the description of the victims.
