The State government will emulate Mysuru’s best practices in solid waste management in Bengaluru, said Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav.
“Over 98 per cent of Mysuru city has an underground drainage system. Over 80 per cent of waste is segregated at source (in houses) and garbage collection is done door-to-door with the assistance from self help groups and pourakarmika sabhas,” he said.
Mr. Jadhav said the government is in the process of identifying what was lacking in the solid waste management of Bengaluru when compared to Mysuru.
“In Bengaluru, there is a larger issue of logistics rather than collection and disposal. We have updated this to the Union government officials at the review meeting,” he said.
