Bengaluru to host Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas from January 7

Karnataka will host 15th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bengaluru for three days from January 7, 2017.

Minister for Large and Medium Industries Minister R V Deshpande said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the main session of the event on January 8.

The event would be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Tumakuru Road, on the outskirts of the City.

The External Affairs Ministry would provide all support to the event, Mr. Deshpande told presspersons here on Saturday.

There would be a Yuva NRI session on January 7 and it would be attended by delegates from across the globe. Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj would deliver key note address and Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel would also attend the session.

Artisans would display their crafts on all three days to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage. President Pranab Mukherjee would attend the concluding day session (January 9) and give away Pravasi Bharathi awards.
