Bengaluru police have stepped up security in public places in the wake of threat perception following a twitter update on Monday.

Places like Majestic, City Market, Airport bus stands and vital areas with government and private buildings are being scanned. Policemen armed with metal detectors are patrolling markets and bus stands and frisking people on suspicion.

Police personnel have also been deployed at shopping malls and other public places to ensure security measures.

The city police picked up a man on Monday night, on suspicion, resting in the footpaths of K.R. Market. He is from Andhra Pradesh. Police confiscated his laptop and mobile phone for further investigations.

Senior police officers are making rounds to supervise the security arrangements. Senior police officers have requested the hawkers and shopkeepers to alert the police if they notice any suspicious activity.
