Keeping his budget promise, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) would call for applications for 5,000 sites in Kempe Gowda Layout by the end of March.
Projects inauguratedInaugurating and laying foundation stone for various projects in the city, Mr. Siddaramaiah said tenders had been called for developing the layout and the work had begun.
BDA Commissioner T. Sham Bhat later told presspersons that the layout was coming up on 2,000 acres of land spread across areas. “The entire land is in bits and pieces. We will invite applications for 5,000 sites here by March-end,” he said. He added sites of different dimensions would be developed and allotted.
Arkavathy allotteesMr. Siddaramaiah reiterated his earlier commitment and said that the government would distribute plots to 8,813 allottees of the Arkavathy Layout before March. Although the allotment was made more than eight years ago, the BDA was unable to give possession to the allottees.
MeetingA meeting between Mr. Siddaramaiah and farmer leaders is likely to be convened in the presence of BDA officials to discuss their concerns about the peripheral ring road (PPR) project. Mr. Bhat said that some of the key demands of the farmers were not to link the PPR to the NICE Road, provide compensation to the farmers as per the amended land acquisition Act.
