BBMP to fine KSCA for ‘dumping waste'

April 18, 2012 09:16 am | Updated 09:16 am IST - Bangalore:

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is likely to levy a fine on the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for “dumping waste indiscriminately”.

According to BBMP officials, a garbage truck was found dumping waste on Avalahalli Road in Bommanahalli zone on Monday. The officials said they concluded that the waste was from the KSCA after finding some banners and pamphlets. The fine amount would be decided on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that after the councillors rejected the 250 complimentary passes offered by KSCA (the councillors had wanted 450 tickets for prime seats), they decided to charge advertisement fee on KSCA.

Deputy Mayor S. Harish had earlier alleged that KSCA, which has its own garbage clearance system, was not dumping it in designated areas and if the BBMP officials caught these garbage trucks, a heavy penalty would be levied.

Incidentally, indiscriminate dumping of garbage, low advertisement fee and other taxes were not a problem for the BBMP as long as the KSCA sent complimentary passes.
