Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Friday defended before the High Court of Karnataka its action to lease out a vacant property in favour of the Janata Dal (S) for utilising it for construction of the party’s State headquarters.
The BBMP counsel denied the allegation made in a PIL petition that the land was earmarked for construction of a public hospital but said there was only a “proposal” to use it for a hospital based on a request made by a councillor.
Meanwhile, the JD(S) counsel contended that there was nothing illegal in the BBMP’s decision as the there was no resolution for utilising the property for constructing a hospital.
A Division Bench, which heard the arguments on the petition, filed by one N. Ravil, a resident of Seshadripuram, adjourned further hearing till Monday.
