Journalists of Tumakuru district staged a protest at Town Hall Circle here on Sunday condemning the attack on a reporter working for a private news channel.

Journalists representing all 10 taluks of the district gathered demanding that the State government arrest the BJP’s district general secretary, Ravishankar alias Hebbakka Ravi, and Tumakuru City Corporation councillor Nagesh alias Bavikatte Naganna, both of whom allegedly assaulted the reporter on Saturday.

The agitators formed a human chain and blocked B.H. Road for around 30 minutes, disrupting traffic at the busy junction. They also raised slogans against the BJP.

The reporter was assaulted by the two men and their supporters at a private hotel. A case has been registered with the New Extension police.
