Area for Bellandur STP occupied by developer

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - BENGALURU:

Members of the Koliwad Committee put off their plans to visit Bellandur lake in the city on Friday after it emerged that the area on which a sewage treatment plant (STP) was to come up had already been occupied by a developer.

K.B. Koliwad, who heads the committee, said, “The STP was to come up in one area first, which was later changed. The area identified the second time has apparently been given to a developer. The Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, has been asked to make an inquiry into this. We will visit the lake after that.”

The committee members, acting on complaints, visited four other lakes on Friday, including Sankey Tank.
