After goof-ups in the Mathematics and English PU question papers came to light, the SSLC Kannada-medium mathematics question paper is now under scrutiny.

The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), on Monday, decided to award four grace marks to students, who attempted the Kannada-medium mathematics paper.

KSEEB authorities have decided to award four grace marks to a question pertaining to arithmetic progression. Yashoda Bopanna, Director of KSEEB, said while the English version did not have any error, the person who set the paper in Kannada had made a mistake. The errors in question paper, meanwhile, have come under criticism. “Students study all through the year; there should have been a thorough scrutiny by those who set the paper. This should serve as a wake-up call to the department, who should take up more precautionary measures to ensure that such mistakes do not creep into the paper,” a high school teacher from Bengaluru said.

She also added that grace marks would affect the prospects of meritorious students.

The department officials said a notice has been issued to KSEEB to initiate and inquiry and find the person who set the Kannada mathematics paper.
